Every color has their own relation in magic and spell craft. The meanings of various colors can vary depending on the path and believe system.
Colors can be used to give boost to your magical work in many ways, like candle magic, writing on colored paper, using certain color in charmbag etc.

What is black color
Black is commonly associated with negativity, darkness and evil, but at same time, it can be very comforting, calming, and safe. Black can be seen as sexy and sensual color, but also it is color that can be used as way to blend it the mass.
Black is said to absorb all the light and colors and if you ask from scientists, they likely will tell you that black isn’t a color at all. In arts, black is considered to be a color, as artists use pigments, which are combined with different elements, hence it is a color.
Historically, black color goes way back, it is one of the first pigments human made alongside of white and red. These days we associate black color related to funerals and mourning, but it was not always that. In old days, people used usually saved their best clothes to special occasion, as in going churches etc., and those were usually black. It was common that wedding dresses at the time was also black. Before 1400 common color for mourning was usually red.
Black in cultures
Black had so many different associations in cultures around the world, some of them exist today. In china, black is associated with water, north and winter. Thailand and Tibet seem to relate it with evil, in western cultures black is associated with sophistication and formality, but it is also primary color of death and funerals.
Many early cultures related black with dead and underworld, this is seen in many ways. In Norse cultures, the goddess of the night, Nótt, had a black horse, and Hel, the goddess of the kingdom of the dead had black and red skin and in ancient Egypt the guardian of the underworld, Anubis, was a black jackal, etc. In Christian cultures, black was color of evil and was associated usually with witches, death, hell, and demons.

Black in magic
In witchcraft, black is viewed as strong color, and because its main properties are absorbing colors and light, it is used for banishing negative energy. Also black is commonly used in protective, banishing, and repelling work and it reverses curses and hexes.

Personally, black is my favorite color. Most of my clothes are black, though I do try to use other colors too. I used to dye my hair black too, but as I got older, I changed to silver blond. I like black things and I would love to have black flowers in my yard too. I feel most comfortable when wearing black, and I am certain that it really suits me.I like black and white images and drawings and I use black plenty in my art and such. My altar candles are usually black, black is such a beautiful color, I love it.
